225/45-R17 tires are 1.28 inches (32.5 mm) smaller in diameter than 235/50-R17 tires and the speedometer difference is 4.8%.
245/50-R17 tires are 0.96 inches (24.5 mm) larger in diameter than 245/45-R17 tires and the speedometer difference is 3.6%.The main technical difference between 225 vs 245 tires is the width. There is a 20 mm difference in width between the two tires. The 225 tire is relatively narrower than the 245. So the 245 wheel has a larger contact patch than the 225. These two types of tires are produced in different aspect ratios and rim diameters. Jun 16, 2020 ยท The sport also has a slightly lower front suspension. Even still, the 245/45/17 tires fit fine all around with no rubbing. There is a slightly noticeable sidewall bulge on the front (due to the narrower rims in the front that are 17"x7.5" vs 17"x8.5" in the back). I like it as it fits the wheel wells better, and I got them for cheap and it works. jhW5P.
